As part of the Royal College of Music Great Exhibitionists Series, Neko no koi (The Lover Cat) brings to life 8 Japanese haikus by Kobayashi Issa (1763 - 1828) by combining music, live drawing, installation and contemporary dance.
Haiku is a short form of traditional Japanese poetry which consists of only 3 phrases, usually depicting everyday objects and occurrences. Inspired by 8 haikus ending with ‘Neko no koi’ by Kobayashi Issa, Neko no koi (The Lover Cat) tells a story of a cat yearning for love with a collection of 8 miniature theatre piece.
